Search Engine Ranking Success Stories
Eleven web sites designed or optimized by Evensen Web Design in the last 12 months are now ranked #1, or #2 on Google. You can see them in our online portfolio and try the search terms yourself.
- Our best success story is right here at home. Our search engine page on this site, searchengine.html, ranks #1 on Google with the search terms "top ranking on google". Think about this for a minute. Who did we have to beat to get to the top of Google? Almost every other search engine optimizer in the business! Everything else we say about our abilities pales in comparison to this accomplishment.

- Prava Hotel in San Diego is a new "boutique hotel", a market niche occupied by a good number of other hotels in the city. We designed a beautiful web site last year for the opening of the hotel, and inside of 8 weeks, it was ranked #1 and #2 on Google with the search terms "boutique hotel san diego".
- The Canton Marriott McKinley Grand is a traditional hotel in Canton, Ohio. After being purchased and renovated, the new owners wanted to be sure their new web site drew customers to the hotel. We got their web site to #1 on Google with the search terms "business hotel canton ohio"
- Some of those sites are in very competitive markets. Are there hotels on Waikiki Beach? We designed a web site for one of them, a budget hotel, and they needed a good search engine ranking. We got the hotel to #1 on Google with the search terms "budget hotel waikiki".
- We also built a web site for a second budget hotel on Waikiki Beach, owned by the same company. The sites are similar in appearance but with different content. The second hotel is ranked #2 on Google with the same keywords. The owner is happy.
- How about a site with graphics, flash video and not a lot of text on the front page? Go look at American Property Management Corp. Click through to the actual site and see the flash video, then go to Google and put in "hotel owners and developers" and see the #1 ranking.
- The Holiday Inn Select Hotel in San Diego. Ranks #3 on Google using the search terms "family vacation hotel san diego" and #1 on Google with the terms "business meetings san diego".
- Another success added recently is the web site of Fox Mediation, offering facilitation and mediation services in the Pacific Northwest. Six weeks after a site makeover, this site appears at #1 on Google with the search terms "oregon facilitation and mediation.
- A recent makeover (April 23, '03) was for Rio Rico Resort and Country Club in Arizona. Five days (yes, DAYS) after relaunching the site, it appeared ranked #1 on Google with the keywords "arizona golf hotel" and #5 with "arizona golf resort".
Oops! Update! That wasn't good enough for the corporate director of sales in San Diego. He wanted the hotel to rank high for "TUCSON arizona golf resort". Rule #1 in search engine optimization is "When you have a top ranking, don't fiddle with your page — leave it alone." But we fiddled anyway. Six weeks later (June 9), you will find the site ranked #1 on Google for "tucson arizona golf resort".
- May 15, 2003 was the relaunch of the site makeover for ReliableSurveys.com A large site, with over 70 content-heavy pages, the Google freshbot picked it up in just 10 days, and it has been at #1 and #2 on Google ever since, for the search terms "reliable online questionnaires".
These are not just a few successes among many attempts. These are the results of every search engine optimization we have attempted in the last 12 months. We haven't found the site yet that we're not able to help. Can we do it? You decide.
A site to watch: Our next optimization project is for a site offering Reverse Mortgage. We'll report on our success later.
Another site receiving a Search Engine Optimization: Watch Altegris Investments' web site, reached by searching for hedge funds. The site was ranked in the 40's and 50's on those search terms, now moving up to the top 10 or top 5.
